Location: Bullhead Lake Fishing Pier

Managed by: City of Kelliher, MN

Management Address

217 E Main St
Kelliher MN 56650

Located on the northeast outskirts of Kelliher is a small lake that includes a fishing pier with an area that looks as though it is used as a boat ramp for lunching boats.

Description

Visitors will find an older wooden "T" shaped pier located here.  Two cut outs are provided for fishing with Reports from the DNR saying the predominant fish species is Bullheads like its namesake.  As one looks over and around the pier the depth is very shallow with a great number of weeds, see above.  From the looks of the area a person would have to cast a long distance to go past the weed line and as you real in, your hook would be full of weeds

This location offers no accessible parking and also lacks an accessible route from what is presumed as a parking area to the pier gangplank.  Fishing may be disrupted as people launch their boats.  During the time of the review no anglers were present nor vehicles and trailers seen but seeing how close the ramp is to the pier it would be impossible not to disrupt anglers when launching or trailering boats.  Though the area does not meet any of the accessible route regulations it was found fairly stable and not washed out with a gangplank that was seated well into the ground so people would not have a large gap to wheelie over.  Anglers would have to bring their own chair in which to sit upon.
