Description

  • Applications must be postmarked or dropped off at Options by 5:00 P.M., Sept. 17, 2025, to be considered.  Options reserves the ability to extend the acceptance period if spots are available.

  • Hunters must attend a mandatory orientation and demonstrate proficiency in shooting to participate that is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 24, 2025.

  • If more than 4 eligible people apply, the hunt participants will be chosen through a selection process/drawing with those not chosen placed on an alternate list in case of cancelations.

  • The hunts emphasis is to reduce the deer population within the City limits so hunters are encouraged to take does though the DNR has granted two buck permits.  Once four hunters are chosen it will be decided if a drawing should take place for the two buck options or if it should be on a first come first serve basis of harvest.  Input will be collected from the participants.

  • Hunters must possess a permanent disability severe enough to qualify for disability-related programs/services such as Hunt from a Vehicle Permit, Permanent Accessible Parking Placard, Waivered Home Services, any of the disability-related fishing, hunting, or park access permits issued by the MN DNR based on one’s disability, Federal Park Access Pass issued due to disability, SSI, SSDAC, and/or SSDI.  If a person possesses a disability without fulfilling any of the aforementioned at the time of application the definition of disability used by the Social Security Administration will be used as guidance when assessing ones one's eligibility to participate in the hunt.  Persons with a VA disability rating will be evaluated based on the severity of their disability compared to the aforementioned.

  • Hunters must possess a valid Minnesota 2025 Archery Deer License to hunt.

  • Hunters are asked to refer to the big game regulations outlined in the 2025 Minnesota Hunting and Trapping Regulations booklet for further details on the laws pertaining to licensing and to ensure they are knowledgeable of the rules pertaining to big game hunting.

  • Participants will be brought out to their post site with volunteers available to assist. An assistant may accompany each person with a disability on post, as the hunter deems necessary.  If a hunter does not have an assistant available and would like one, Options can coordinate a volunteer to assist upon request.  Hunt organizers reserve the ability to assign a volunteer to a hunter.
