Description

Lake Bemidji State Park located on the northwest part of Lake Bemidji has a fishing pier available for park users.  The park requires an entrance fee in order to enter the park.  The parking area for the pier is in the same vicinity as the boat marina, playground, and fish cleaning station.   The parking area is primitive, meaning it has an earthen base of sand/gravel situated within the trees.  There seems to be no accessible routes between the amenities, when parking look for the accessible parking space closest to the lake.  If you drive a lift equipped van you should either angle your parking so you can protect your lift from other cars parked to close or back in leaving space at the end of the parking area for your lift to deploy for you to get out and to restrict others from blocking your ramp.  From the parking lot visitors will have to use roadways to access trails that lead to the ramp, comfort stations, or fishing pier.

Due to the number of species of fish found in Lake Bemidji users can use a variety of fishing rigs with the most common being slip bobbers and casting plugs.  The pier does not have any seating available so users may want to bring a chair.  The distance would be a challenge for people with ambulatory disabilities and for persons having difficulty getting all their equipment to the pier in one trip.
